One of the 2000 Summer Heat festival hot air balloon pilots had lots of crew help from members of the Muncie Sunrise Rotary Club.

Paul Quandee, pilot of a Cameron N-77 balloon "Sunrize #14" was assisted by Rotarians Alan Wilson, Pat Barkey and his wife Rita, Dennis Wible, Martin Limbird and his wife Mary Catherine. By sheer
coincidence, Quandee's balloon was sponsored by the accounting firm to which the club's immediate past president, Jim Estep,  belongs.

Quandee placed third in two of the competitive events during the annual Summer Heat festival.  His balloon took part in all seven of the official ascents scheduled during the August 10-13 event held at the
Delaware County  Airport. More than thirty balloonists took part, attended by more than 20,000 persons.

In addition to piloting during his free time, Quandee represents balloon manufacturers through his firm, RainBow Balloons, Elkhart, Indiana.
